In Yokohama city, many fruit trees such as pears, grapes, oysters, plums, kiwifruit, mandarin oranges, chestnuts, and blueberries are cultivated. There are also farms where you can experience harvesting. Most of the sales methods are direct sales, and you can taste fresh and delicious fruits immediately after harvesting.

Introduction of Major Fruit Trees in Yokohama

The production of Japanese pears is about 1,440 tons, the largest in the prefecture. "Hamanashi" is not the name of the pear variety, but the brand name of the pear born in Yokohama city.
Yokohama agricultural cooperative registered trademark in 2015.
The main varieties are Kosui and Hosui. It is also a special product as a representative fruit of Yokohama.
It is also called "phantom pears" because it is sold directly or by home delivery, hardly available on the market. The fruits are large balls, harvested after being fully ripe on the tree, and are immediately available to consumers, so they are reputed to be very fresh and delicious.

"Hama Grape" is a general term for grapes centered on large grains grown in Yokohama. The main varieties are Minoru Fuji, Pione, Ryuho, Beniizu, etc., and Shine Muscat has recently increased. What is harvested in a ripe state is sold directly, and it is very popular for being very sweet and delicious.

  • Cultivation area: Approximately 12 hectares
  • Production volume: Approximately 64 tons
  • Major production areas: Kohoku Ward, Tsuzuki Ward  , Midori Ward, Totsuka Ward, Izumi Ward, Konan Ward

"Hamakaki" is a general term for persimmons centered on completely sweet persimmons grown in Yokohama. The main varieties are Jiro and Fuyu, and recently the number of Taishu has increased.

Japanese plum in Yokohama

There is no beach and the beach oysters produce a lot of plums. In June, it is sold at direct sales outlets and processed into plums, plum wine, plum juice, boiled plums, etc.
