About Face Authentication My Number Card

Overview

What is Face Authentication My Number Card?

In order to reduce the burden on those who are worried about setting and managing PINs, there is no need to set a PIN, and the identity verification method when using a digital certificate for user certification of My Number Card is limited to face recognition or visual inspection It is a My Number card.
"Face Authentication" is written on the face of the card, but the appearance and expiration date of the card are not different from the card with a PIN set.

※You need to apply in advance to use it as a health insurance card. After setting the face authentication, please apply from the face authentication card reader installed at the medical institution or pharmacy.

  • Other online procedures, including e-Tax
  • Services that require the entry of a PIN

Application/Setting method

Settings at the time of receipt of the card

Please prepare the required documents at the time of receipt and ask at the counter. For details on the receipt procedure, please refer to Receiving My Number Card.
If you receive the proxy/agent delegated by the applicant, please write or select on the delivery notice (postcard) that you do not set your PIN.

Settings after receipt

Applications for switching to facial recognition cards are accepted at the ward office Family Registry Division in your ward office. Please come to the counter after preparing your My Number Card.

Procedure by proxy/agent

If you apply for the proxy/agent, you will need the documents shown in the table below. Please bring them to the counter.

※A proxy form is available on the back of the application form. Please fill in the required items and Power of Attorney on the application form in advance and submit it to the counter.

The digital certificate for signature mounted on My Number Card will be revoked with the application for changeover.

How to switch from a face authentication card to a card with a password set.

The procedure for switching to a card with a PIN is accepted at the ward office Family Registry Division in your ward office. As we set (or reset) personal identification number of my number card, come to window after having my number card.

If the voluntary proxy/agent performs the procedure instead, it will be handled by the document inquiry method (at a later date). It will take several days to complete the procedure, so please allow enough time.

  1. After the procedure by proxy/agent, the ward office will send you an inquiry and answer sheet to confirm your PIN.
  2. Please fill in the signature, PIN, etc. in the answer column and delegation column of the inquiry form.
  3. Please delegate to voluntarily proxy/agent to submit your My Number Card, Inquiry Form and Power of Attorney to the ward office. (proxy/agent must present identification documents with a face photo issued by the public office.)
  4. Set a new password at the ward office and return it to proxy/agent.
