About new issuance and renewal of digital certificate of my number card

If the Address or name is changed or the expiration date is within 3 months, the digital certificate must be renewed.

Expiration date of digital certificate

When the expiration date of the digital certificate of My Number Card expires, you will not be able to use convenience store issuance services for various certificates, login to the minor portal, use of health insurance cards, electronic applications such as e-Tax (electronic tax return), etc. (can be used as identity verification documents).

※If you are a foreigner and have a fixed expiration date, your expiration date will be the expiration date of your My Number Card or digital certificate. Specifically, please see page about summary of my number card (electronic certificate).

Precautions

Please note that after new issuance and renewal, each digital certificate may not be available until the next day or later.

About renewal of digital certificate

We send notice of expiration date in blue envelope or white envelope. Please follow the enclosed information and go to the My Number Card Special Center or the ward office Family Registry Division Registration Section.

  • At the ward office where reservations are not required, you can complete the procedure if you come directly, but you may have to wait depending on the congestion situation on the day. Thank you for your understanding.

Those who file at the My Number Card Special Center

Renewal of digital certificates at the My Number Card Special Center, which has jurisdiction over your ward. Advance reservations are required for the procedure.
Address and name cannot be changed at the special center. If there is a change in Address or name, please apply at the ward office of your ward.
※The special center where you can apply differs depending on the ward where you live. For details, please check the page of My Number Card Special Center.

Procedure period for renewal of digital certificates

After the next day three months before the expiration date (e.g., if the expiration date is July 15: April 16 or later)
※If reissued three months before the expiration date, the expiration date of the newly issued digital certificate will be reduced by one year.

New issuance and renewal procedures for digital certificates

When the person does the procedure

  • My Number Card

If the person is under 15 years of age or an adult ward

The procedure will be done by legal representative. Please bring the following items to you.

  • Personal My Number Card
  • Identification documents with a face photo issued by a public office in legal representative (My Number Card, driver's license, etc.)
  • family register, Certificate of Registration, etc.

※In principle, we do not issue a digital certificate for signature to persons under 15 years of age and adult wardes. Is required.

When proxy/agent handles the procedures

  • Personal My Number Card
  • Identification documents with a face photo issued by a public office in proxy/agent (My Number Card, driver's license, etc.)
  • Answer Form and Power of Attorney

The answer sheet and power of attorney are enclosed with the expiration date notice envelope. Please fill in all required items by yourself, put it in an envelope and seal itproxy/agent so that you do not know your PIN.
If you have lost your answer sheet and power of attorney, please contact your ward office, Family Registry Division Registration Section.

When a member of same household carries out procedures for moving in or moving

When a same household employee issues or renews an electronic certificate on the same day as the notification of relocation and relocation, handling will be different. For more information, please refer to Address's My Number Card.

Documents containing "Name and Date of Birth" or "Name and Address" and the information provided consistent with resident certificate's latest information. Documents with an expiration date are limited to those within the expiration date.

Verification of PIN

When renewing the digital certificate, check the set PIN. If you cannot verify your PIN, you will not be able to renew your digital certificate, so please check in advance and come to the counter. In the case of procedures by proxy/agent, the staff will check the personal identification number entered in the response form and power of attorney.

There are three types of security codes to be verified.
