[Report] 2024 Lifelong Learning Lecture "Relationship between Insects and Our"-Learning Nature from Stimbugs-

Last Updated July 30, 2024

Report

Part 1:
State of the course

Part 1: A story
"Let's look for insects, the world of familiar insects."

Dr. Yokota taught me how to find insects and how to breed them. "What is the difference between a butterfly and a moth?" I heard that "What is the difference between caterpillars and caterpillars?", But I was increasingly interested in insects.
Next, we asked about changes in ecosystems seen in Izumi Ward, such as the effects of global warming and the increase in alien species. I learned a lot that I didn't know before, such as environmental conservation through local activities and the fact that the greenery in each house will be a relay point for insect activities as part of our efforts.

Part 2: Workshop
"Let's make it! My own picture book of nature and insects."
Insect specimens brought by Dr. Yokota (all found in Izumi Ward!) Using a number of live beetles, many picture books, draw insects, fill in what they have examined while looking at with their own eyes and capturing characteristics and measuring length, and fill in the first page of my picture book Created.
When leaving a record of insects, it is important to record the person who found it, the place where it was found, and the date and time when you found it. It was good to keep as much information as possible.
In the specimen brought by the teacher, there is no description of the name of the insect, etc., and this is this while turning around each picture book? It's similar, but isn't it? I checked it very hard.
Finally, the teacher handed out an answer sheet with the name of the insect, but it was correct or different. It was also fun, and it was just two hours.

From Izumi inhabitant of a ward activity support center

Izumi Ward has a rich natural environment in Yokohama.
During the summer vacation, we organized a course for elementary school students and their families so that they can learn about the area and the natural environment while enjoying the nature of Izumi Ward.
In the course, both children and adults listened to Dr. Yokota's story about insects shining their eyes. In the following workshop, it was impressive to see people carefully drawing insects in cooperation with others and thinking about insects and nature.
Some of the participants have applied for a new library use card, and some have offered to participate in local activities that Mr. Yokota actually conducts in Izumi Ward. Was.
The Izumi Ward Residents' Activities Support Center will continue to plan and operate various courses and events so that you can help with learning and activities.
We look forward to your continued participation and inquiries.
