45.Braff-loaded stone wall (near 2 of Momijigaoka 57)
A short walk from Iwakame Yokocho is the back gate of Mt. Kamon, and when you climb it, you can see Noh Theater. This area, originally named "Fudoyama", came to be called "Railway Mountain" because it became a base for the construction of Yokohama's railway in 1872.
The government building of foreign engineers who were involved in the construction of the railway was built here, but this is the stone wall at that time. It is said that it is a Western-style masonry, similar to a French masonry. It was said to be "Braf (Yamate) stacking" because it was common in foreign settlements in Yamate. Awa stone survived the Great East Japan Earthquake, but it was renovated in 1996. In addition, the high stone wall at the Nogezaka intersection is from the site of the Australian merchant Senzo Hiranuma's residence, which is made of a turtle shell Luo-shaped stone and is called a turtle shell.
