Iseyama Kota Shrine

Iseyama Shrine has a deep connection with the people of Nishi Ward, such as Hatsumode, visiting the shrine, Shichigosan.

In the first place of this shrine, the shrine of Ise no Mori near Iwakame Yokocho was moved to its present location in 1870, after receiving a spirit from Ise Grand Shrine in Mie Prefecture, the then governor of Kanagawa Prefecture Iseki Moritome (1870).

According to the policy of the Meiji New Government, Shintoism as a spiritual pillar of the Japanese people and Mount Fuji worship were superimposed, and a shrine was built on a hill on the line connecting the port and Mount Fuji. Even if you look at the ukiyo-e paintings of Hiroshige Midai, the arrangement is quite strange. Even now, in the forest of modern architecture, the gods of worship still retains its position as a famous place in Yokohama.
