Don't ride an electric assist bicycle that does not meet the standards of the Road Traffic Law!
First of all, let's check the model of your bicycle!

1 Do not ride an electric assist bicycle whose assist ratio is found to exceed the standards under the Road Traffic Law.
If the assist ratio of a bicycle with a drive assistant (hereinafter referred to as “electric assist bicycle”) exceeds the standard under the Road Traffic Law, the balance will be lost due to sudden addition of assisting power exceeding the standard is unexpectedly added, and it is dangerous. Passing on the road with an electric assist bicycle that does not meet the standards may violate laws and regulations and may lead to accidents.

2 Electric-assisted bicycles that do not conform to the standards under the Road Traffic Law
The National Police Agency has announced that at least some of the seven electric assisted bicycles exceed the standard of assist ratio under the Road Traffic Law.

For one of them, a product test conducted by the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan (Germany) found that the assist ratio exceeds the standard under the Road Traffic Law.

3 If you think you have an electric assist bicycle of the applicable model, check with your supplier or the operator shown in Attachment 1.
Refer to the table in Attachment 1 and if you think that the model of your electric assist bicycle is applicable, check with your supplier or the operator in Attachment 1.
Even if the model is applicable, depending on the manufacturing lot, it may not exceed the standard for assist ratio, but be sure to check it.
If you do not know the type of bicycle you have, or if you want to consult about inspection or repair, check with your supplier or the company listed in Attachment 1.
Among the products whose assist ratio has been found to exceed the standards under the Road Traffic Law, those whose recall information is posted on the Consumer Affairs Agency recall information site. All recall information obtained by the Consumer Affairs Agency is posted on the same site. The website will be updated from time to time, so please refer to it.
