Making good fittings is the first thing.
"I'm only trying to make good works," says Tanaka.

While the number of Japanese-style rooms is decreasing in houses, I want to convey the skills of Kumiko to young people, he is a lecturer at a workshop of the Federation of National Fitting Equipment Associations and a manufacturing succession school in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Fittings such as shojis and sliding doors are moved every time they are opened and closed, so it is important to make them well.
Mr. Tanaka has provided high-quality works by combining techniques according to the situation at the site, such as housing, in addition to the basic techniques of fittings making that has been inherited.
In addition, he specializes in making kumiko combining various patterns accurately processing the materials used for kumiko and combining various patterns, incorporating kumiko into a three-sided mirror dressing table and creating sphere lights. I have been working on making designs.
Profile
After graduating from high school, he joined a fittings store run by his parents' house, and succeeded the family business as the third generation.
In addition to serving as a skill test committee member and a judge of the skill competition, he has participated in the National Traditional fittings technology preservation society since its inception, focusing on handing down and inheriting traditional techniques and preserving precious historical buildings.
