National Highway No. 1 (Hodogaya Bridge Construction Zone)

General National Route 1 is a major arterial road with an actual length of about 717 km from Chuo-ku, Tokyo to Osaka City. Of these, about 14 km from Hamamatsucho, Nishi-ku to Gumizawa-cho, Totsuka-ku, is the Yokohama-managed section.
In the section from the vicinity of Hodogaya Bridge intersection in Hodogaya Ward to General National Route 16 (Hodogaya Bypass) Kariba IC, traffic is particularly concentrated and chronic traffic congestion occurs in Yokohama City.

Improvement effect	Facilitation of traffic flow Continuing from the Kariba construction zone on the Kariba IC side, we will widen the road and improve intersections on the existing road to facilitate traffic flow and eliminate traffic congestion. Reduction of accident occurrence We will improve safety by improving the shape of General National Route 1 at Hodogaya Bridge Intersection. Reduction of burden on road environment By reducing traffic congestion, smooth driving can be expected, which reduces CO2 emissions. It also saves gasoline and other costs and reduces traffic noise.

The Kariba Works Zone was widened to five lanes in July 2009.	The number of lanes is decreasing and traffic flow is stagnant.
