National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin)'s premium is a fixed amount, and in fiscal 2024, it was ¥16,980 per month. In addition, if you pay 400 yen per month, an additional pension (200 yen x the number of months you pay the additional premium) will be added to the old-age basic pension as an annual amount. This premium of 400 yen per month is called an additional premium. Additional premiums can be paid by the first insured person of National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin), such as self-employed persons, and voluntary insured persons. Also, if you pay additional premiums, you will not be able to join the National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) Fund.
