Do I have to join National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) when I turn twenty?
Last Updated May 27, 2022
Those who live in Japan and are between 20 and 60 years of age are insured by National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin). If you are 20 years old, we will inform you that you have joined National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) (the first insured) from the Japan pension Organization. (Excluding those who subscribe to Employees' Pension Insurance.)
Also, please keep the basic pension number notice sent by the Japan pension Organization as it is necessary for the procedures in pension. (It will not be sent to those who have joined pension, such as workplaces, or those who have received disability or survivors' pensions.)
