Last Updated October 14, 2021

National Health Insurance
A

The National Health Insurance is a system in which all members pay insurance premiums and help each other in case of illness or injury, so if they do not fall under social security, those who do not have income as members of the National Health Insurance You will have to pay insurance premiums.

This premium calculates various insurance premiums for medical care, support, and nursing care for each insured person, and the sum is the household insurance premium. Medical care, support, and nursing care are calculated based on the “income rate” and the “insured per capita rate” respectively. The standard gross income amount, which is the basis for calculating the income percent, is based on the income during the previous year, so if you do not have income during the previous year, you will have to pay only the per capita rate.

In addition, households that fall below the income standard stipulated by a Cabinet Order can receive a reduction in the statutory standard for the per capita rate. The reduction in insurance premiums is determined based on the income status of all members belonging to the household. If you receive a “Municipal Tax / Prefectural Tax Declaration Form” or “National Health Insurance Income Statement” because you do not know the income status, such as those who have not yet declared, please submit it to the contact Tax Division or Insurance and Pension Division listed in each case. please.

If it is difficult to pay insurance premiums due to disasters, unemployment or other circumstances, please consult with your ward office Insurance and Pension Division. You may be eligible for a reduction in insurance premiums.
