A total of more than 100,000 elementary school students participate in creature surveys! ~ Children's "Ikiiki" Creature Survey 2022 Survey Results ~

The Institute of Environmental Science conducts a survey of 340 elementary school students in Municipal Elementary Schools Yokohama to report on creatures found near their homes and schools. In 2022, 10,552 elementary school students from 159 schools responded, and we were able to obtain valuable information that would contribute to the conservation biodiversity in the future, including a decrease in the confirmation rate of tree frogs, a species that represents the satoyama-like environment, and grasping the distribution of Kurihara squirrels, a specific alien species in the city.
This survey has been conducted since 2013, and this is the ninth time in the 10th year, and the number of participating elementary school studenｔ has exceeded 100,000.
