Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 8,200t-CO2 year! Hokubu Sludge Treatment Plant sludge treatment and effective utilization facility has been completed!

In Yokohama City, sludge generated during the process of treating sewage is collected at two sludge recycling centers in the city.
The Hokubu Sludge Treatment Plant Sludge Treatment and Effective Utilization Project involves the renewal of sludge incinerators and improved soil plants, as well as maintenance and operation of sludge fuel conversion facilities.
The operation of the facility will result in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 8,200t-CO2/year, which is a major step toward realizing a decarbonized society.
This is equivalent to a reduction of approximately 0.9% for the entire city hall and about 4.5% of the entire sewerage business, based on the emissions results in 2013, which is the base year based on the Yokohama City Global Warming Countermeasures Action Plan (City Hall Edition).
A switch-on ceremony will be held with the completion of the renewal of the sludge incinerator and all facilities, including the sludge fuel conversion facilities and improved soil plants that have already been in service.
