 Tozuka Elementary School fifth graders (150 students in 4 classes) have been making rice for a year with the cooperation of JA Yokohama and Maiokacho farmers in paddy fields (34 meters above ground) on the rooftop farm on the 8th floor of the Totsuka Ward General Government Building. Rice production in the rooftop paddy field began with the relocation of the Totsuka Ward Office in 2013, and this is the ninth time this year.
 The ears grow on the seedlings planted by elementary school student in June, and they finally harvest rice. elementary school student will take on the challenge of cutting with a sickle to realize the autumn of harvest and deepen their understanding of agriculture and local production for local consumption.
