A monument to Dr. Kimura stands at Asama Garage Park in front of the West Sports Center near the Kofukuji intersection.
Kimura retired in 1914 (Daisho 3) as the principal of Kata Elementary School when he assumed his current position. With that retirement allowance, I built a small terakoya in the current Minamiasama town. At that time, there were many poor families in the surrounding area, so tuition was free.
Three years later, the formal permission was granted, and Elementary School with about 60 students, with a wooden one-story building, four classrooms, and two teachers.
Six years later, at the time of the Great Kanto Earthquake, the teacher died while the home near the school collapsed and died. It is a monument to remember the teacher who devoted his life to the education of poor children who are single throughout their lives and without drinking.
When I was in the third year of Nisimae Elementary School, when I was drawing a school building in a drawing class, Mr. Yamada, who came to me, praised me. I can't forget the teacher who triggered me to draw landscape illustrations.
