If you go to the rooftop of "Joey eggplant" station building in Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi, you will find the "Joey Nas Forest Sculpture Park". In 1978, "Joey Nas Forest" was completed, and five years later it became "Joey Nas Forest Sculpture Park".
With an area of about 4,600 square meters, it was rare to have a garden on the roof at that time, it was the largest in Japan. Due to the sudden development of West Exit, there were few places to take a break. It's gone now, but there was a 9-meter-high waterfall in the park, and I thought it was an oasis in the building district.
At present, about 20,000 trees, such as a 10-meter-high camphor tree, are growing. Six sculptures, including Kyoko Asakura's "Nike '83" and Yasutake Funakoshi's "Marika" by Yasutake Funakoshi, are installed in various places and can be appreciated.
When I come to the rooftop garden from the crowded shopping section, I feel relieved. You can hear the sound of a small bird with "♪ Pepe P" and calms your heart and taste the feeling of forest bathing.
