List of Targets for the Yamauchi Library in 2024

This year, the Yamauchi Library will focus on the following goals. This list of goals is based on the basic policy and direction of initiatives of the "Yokohama City Library Vision", and also based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward, etc. Has been formulated.

Basic Policy 1 Library for children who will lead the future

Direction of Initiatives: Create opportunities to expand the world of children.

Enhance books for children and books for child care

Efforts

  1. We collect books that help children solve their problems. In this fiscal year, we will work to collect information in the fields of industry. (25 books)
  2. This year, we will work to improve the reading corner especially for lower grades so that a reading environment that fosters rich imagination and emotions can be prepared. (50 books)

We will create an environment where both individuals and groups can spend time with peace of mind.

Efforts

We will continue to operate security camera. We make frequent patrols on the elementary school student floor so that even one person can spend time with peace of mind.
We hold regular talk sessions where children can participate alone. (10 times)

We provide experiences and play that can be enjoyed in various senses, such as touching and listening.

Efforts

We hold a talk party that parents and children can enjoy every month (20 times).
We will actively incorporate children's songs that can be touched and played, and create a place where you can enjoy storytelling such as picture books.

We connect knowledge and experience to draw out the desire to "want to know" and "create" and respond to it.

Efforts

  1. "Science Lectures" will be held for elementary school students in early August of summer vacation. (once)
  2. In late July summer vacation, we will recruit "one-day librarians" for elementary school students to create opportunities to experience library work. (Twice)

Direction of Initiatives: We will prepare an environment and facility that will make you want to go with your child as many times as you want.

Create a space that allows children's lively voices and the buzz of their activities.

Efforts

Every month, a talk session will be held on Sunday at the "Oppinsu" corner (10 times).
Adults and children can easily stop and listen to users of various ages by doing it in an open "Oppusu" instead of a room.

  1. We will hold "Ohanashi Play 012" where baby/infant and their parents can participate. (12 times)
  2. After the parent-child talk meeting, we will open a "story room" to create a place where parents and children can spend their time slowly.

Enhance events and child care support services

Efforts

In addition to regular talks and parent-child talks every month, we will devise ways to have a talk session that can be enjoyed widely from infants to elementary school students, such as English talks and talks combined with crafts. (3 times)

We will send push-type information that actively communicates.

Efforts

Every month, we will display picture book books (12 times) and knowledge books (12 times) according to seasons and events so that children's interests can be brought out and supported for reading.

Direction of Initiatives: We support child, child care generation in connection with child care support facility and school, area and the connection.

We will respond to the needs of the child-rearing generation and provide services.

Efforts

We provide "child care services" to support the time parents can spend time in the library slowly. (20 times)

Create opportunities for interaction with the same generation and other generations.

We will hold a "local picture-story show storytelling party" that can foster interest in local history and stories, and that both adults and children can enjoy together. . (Twice)

Every month at Aoba Ward's 1-year-old and 6-month-old children's health checkups, we hold a business trip meeting at Aoba Health and Welfare Center to stimulate interest in the library and create a place where people can enjoy stories and children's songs. (10 times)

Support children's reading and learning together with the school library.

Efforts

In cooperation with school librarians and other faculty and staff, we provide consultation on library collections at school libraries and consultation on environmental improvement.
We will provide materials that are useful for classes and meet your needs.

Basic Policy 2 Libraries for All Citizens

Direction of Initiatives: Ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and information

We will enhance materials and services to realize reading barrier-free.

Efforts

  1. We will enhance the "apple shelves" that collect materials that anyone can enjoy reading, such as Braille materials and LL books. (10 books)
  2. Increase the number of titles for large print books for readers who have difficulty reading small prints. (10 books)

We collect a wide range of books and enhance the collection in order to create opportunities to get acquainted with books and learn deeply.

Efforts

  1. We will enhance the reference materials throughout the year, but this year we will collect materials in general, social sciences, and technical engineering.
  2. We will promote the replacement and collection of Japanese language learning materials for foreigners who are on the rise. (40 books)

Connect books and information with people

Efforts

  1. We will hold research courses to improve information literacy and search skills. (once)
  2. As a place to know the area, we will exhibit in cooperation with facilities and groups in the city. (7 times)

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a cozy place to stay

We will create an inclusive environment that is easy for anyone to use regardless of age, disability, nationality, etc.

Efforts

  1. Enhance "apple shelves" to realize inclusive reading. (10 books)
  2. Organize guidance signs and traffic lines, aiming for a library that is easy for anyone to understand and use.

We will promote the creation of a rich space that makes people want to go and stay alone or in groups.

Efforts

  1. Lectures, workshops, exhibitions, etc. will be held on various themes and time zones.
  2. We will hold events (10 times) utilizing the space in front of the entrance and the "Opinsu Pasu" in the hall to create an environment where it is easy to participate.

We will promote the creation of a highly tolerable environment where you can spend your free time as you wish.

Efforts

Events that are not limited to books and reading, such as "Library de Marche" (9 times) and "Hamatre Experience Session" (20 times) utilizing the space in front of the entrance, will be held throughout the year to stimulate visits.

We connect various activities slowly and zoning so that we can go back and forth.

Efforts

People who want to spend quietly and those who want to enjoy the event will divide their personality by area so that each person can spend their time according to their purpose.

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a base for experience, exchange, creation, and transmission.

It will be a place where various experiences and creative activities can be carried out.

We hold hands-on courses such as workshops (four times) and science classes (one time) to provide an opportunity to gain deeper learning.

Connect reading with experiences and activities to create an environment where knowledge can be practiced and deepened.

Efforts

Prepare a recycling-oriented learning place where you can utilize the knowledge you have gained in social activities and life, such as courses for library volunteers (4 times), training courses for dementia supporters (1 time), and adult club activities (7 times). I will do it.

While removing barriers, we will promote the creation of a system that will be a place where various people can meet, experience, interact and collaborate.

  1. We will provide equipment that supports reading, such as reading glasses, enlarged reading devices, and reading trackers.
  2. We provide paid childcare services (20 times) and support reading activities and information gathering for the child-rearing generation.

We will develop from "reading books" to "writing" and "making", and hold courses to expand the creativity of participants, such as adult club activities (7 times) and short-short courses (1 time).

Basic Policy 3 Library for towns and communities

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a platform for community development where you can meet the appeal of the region.

We will create a unique library according to the characteristics of the region.

Efforts

  1. A collection of books by Hiroyuki Agawa, who is related to Aoba Ward, is introduced as a local writer.
  2. Enhance the D-Books Corner, which collects materials related to dementia (10 books). We collect materials with the latest medical information in mind.
  3. We will update the Japanese language learning materials for foreigners whose population is increasing in Aoba Ward. (40 books)

Visitors to the library will learn about the charm of the area and become a base that connects with the town.

Efforts

  1. We strive to collect and preserve local materials from Aoba Ward.
  2. We will hold a special exhibition with local issues and books in cooperation with the ward office and facilities in the ward. (7 times)

It creates interaction and liveliness among the people who gather.

  1. We support child-rearing in the community in cooperation with the NPO Narrative Association "Ohanashi Gokko 012". (12 times)
  2. We hold "Hamatre" in cooperation with community care plaza and display books related to health promotion. (20 times)

  1. We will send the latest information on the library using the Yamauchi Library homepage and SNS.

Direction of Initiatives: Collect knowledge and information on regions and towns, archive them, and connect them to the next generation.

  1. We collect materials based on social conditions and trends and support the resolution of issues for residents of the city.
  2. In consideration of the characteristics of Aoba Ward, which has a foreign population of more than 5,000, we will update Japanese language learning materials. (40 books)
  3. Every month, we hold a theme exhibition at the general public and elementary school student corner to propose encounters with new books. (12 times)

Basic Policy 4 Easy-to-use library services

Direction of Initiatives: Utilizing digital technology, we provide library services that can be used anytime, anywhere.

We will promote online use of procedures and references.

Efforts

We will make some online reservations for books that are not held in City Library (mutual loan reservations). (until March)

Create online encounters with books and interactions with users.

Efforts

We will introduce books recommended by staff for teens on the library blog to create opportunities for young people to meet books. (12 times)

Direction of Initiatives: We aim to achieve both expansion of library functions and provision of library services in highly convenient locations.

We will expand functions based on the location and regional characteristics of each library.

Efforts

  1. We will continue book agency at seven facilities in the city.
  2. We will strive to quickly confirm and discover problems and fullness of book return box installed at three stations in Aoba Ward to provide stable services. When the use of station posts increases in summer, we will collect them twice to improve user convenience.

Direction of Initiatives: We will actively disseminate information.

Increase contact points with libraries by disseminating information using various information tools such as SNS.

Efforts

We strive to disseminate a wide range of information (12 times) using websites, SNS, public relations papers in the city, etc., which will lead to the creation of opportunities for visiting the museum.

We go out of the library and convey the appeal of libraries and books even face-to-face.

We go to a 1-year-old and 6-month-old child medical checkup at the ward office to read aloud, and create opportunities for children and parents to meet books and libraries. (10 times)

We send in cooperation with facilities and groups so that it reaches citizens who have never used the library.

We will mutually disseminate information with facilities and organizations that cooperate in each business and deliver information to those who do not use the library.

Basic Policy 5 Libraries that change flexibly and remain attractive forever

We hold cooperation business with various partners including Yokohama Triennale Organizing Committee and community care plaza, district center, local mobile sale, citizen volunteer group. (10 times)

In connection with town, we support solution of local problem continuously.

In cooperation with civic groups, we will hold lectures and exhibitions on the theme of dementia and local issues associated with aging. (4 times)

Direction of Initiatives: In order to support the ever-changing library, we will nurture and utilize the librarian, which is the strength of the city.

We will foster librarians who always challenge the creation of new library attractions.

Efforts

In various courses for users in the hall, we will improve our planning skills, select attractive instructors (22 times), and enhance the staff's abilities so that they can request them.

Improve your expertise in books and information.

Efforts

In order to improve the skills of the staff, in addition to conducting training in the hall (6 times), we will actively participate in external training (20 times).
After that, we will share the training contents in the museum.

Acquire the skills needed in response to changes.

Efforts

We will strive to collect information and expand the staff's perspective, and if there are any issues, take them up at the staff meeting (50 times) so that we can respond flexibly.

Expand services using new technologies such as new functions and digital tools.

We will continue to operate the seat reservation management system. We will promote the publicity of the web seat reservation system introduced in FY2023.

We will promote the use of LEDs in the museum. Exchange of unreplaced parts will be carried out systematically on closed days (three times in April, June and August).

We will operate while reviewing the product lineup of the mini-mini shop "Yamauchi-do" in the hall.
We will continue to install vending machines for beverages installed in the front yard.
