List of Targets for the Seya Library in 2024
This year, the Seya Library will focus on the following goals. This list of goals is based on the basic policy and direction of initiatives of the "Yokohama City Library Vision", and also based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward, etc. Has been formulated.

Basic Policy 1 Library for children who will lead the future
Direction of Initiatives: Create opportunities to expand the world of children.
Enhance books for children and books for child care
Efforts
We will purchase 1,700 new children's books, paying attention to events and seasonal picture books and picture-story shows.
We provide experiences and play that can be enjoyed in various senses, such as touching and listening.
Efforts
In cooperation with other organizations, we will hold events for elementary school students who conduct surveys utilizing nature observation and library materials. (June)
We connect knowledge and experience to draw out the desire to "want to know" and "create" and respond to it.

- We will replenish and update 100 books on information science, philosophy, religion, history, geography, etc. to solve problems for elementary and junior high school students.
- In cooperation with other organizations, we will hold courses for children to learn about the environment through experiences such as crafts. (August)
Direction of Initiatives: We will prepare an environment and facility that will make you want to go with your child as many times as you want.
Enhance events and child care support services
Efforts
- In cooperation with volunteer groups in the city, we will hold a holiday talk party. (10 times)
- In cooperation with volunteer groups in the city, we will hold a story festival week. (from July to August)
- In cooperation with volunteers, we will hold a "chick storytelling party" for parents and children. (22 times)
We will send push-type information that actively communicates.
Efforts
- We utilize "child care support calendar" of ward and send information about events for preschool child. (12 times)
- Utilizing the "Seyakko Newsletter" of the city, we will disseminate information on events for elementary school students. (4 times)
Direction of Initiatives: We support child, child care generation in connection with child care support facility and school, area and the connection.
We will respond to the needs of the child-rearing generation and provide services.

- In child care information corner, we provide information of organizations such as child care support groups and ward offices.
- We carry out baby classroom that ward office holds in library and perform demonstration of story-telling party.
Create opportunities for interaction with the same generation and other generations.

After the "Chick Storytelling Party", the meeting room at the venue will be opened to provide opportunities for participants to interact with each other, as well as a place where diapers can be changed, milk and breastfeed. (22 times)
Actively connect with children's related facilities and communities to support children and child care.
On the first Saturday and second Sunday of each month, we will hold a talk session in cooperation with volunteers.
Support children's reading and learning together with the school library.
Efforts
- In addition to participating in child care support net meeting, we exchange information with related facilities of child in ward. (3 times)
- We lend library materials to volunteer groups in the city and related facilities for children.
- We perform demonstration of storytelling party in baby classroom hosted by ward office. (3 times)

- At the time of school visit, we will perform demonstrations of talks and other events.
Basic Policy 2 Libraries for All Citizens
Direction of Initiatives: Ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and information
We collect a wide range of books and enhance the collection in order to create opportunities to get acquainted with books and learn deeply.
Efforts
Collect books that will be helpful for lifestyles in their 30s and 50s. (20 books)
Connect books and information with people
Efforts
- We will reinforce reference books and introduce materials through exhibitions. 8 reference books. The exhibition is scheduled for autumn.
- Enhance the intellectual interest of citizens through monthly theme exhibitions. (10 times)
Direction of Initiatives: It will be a cozy place to stay
We will create an inclusive environment that is easy for anyone to use regardless of age, disability, nationality, etc.
Efforts
- For children with foreign roots, we purchase 15 books in Vietnamese and simple Japanese.
- We will consider signs in the hall that are easy to understand.
Direction of Initiatives: It will be a base for experience, exchange, creation, and transmission.
It will be a place where various experiences and creative activities can be carried out.

We hold reading party in cooperation with group working in the city. (Twice)

Basic Policy 3 Library for towns and communities
Direction of Initiatives: It will be a platform for community development where you can meet the appeal of the region.
We will create a unique library according to the characteristics of the region.

- Books on horticulture will be collected and exhibited for several years for the GREEN x EXPO 2027. (A total of 15 books will be collected this year and will be exhibited after autumn.)

We will make some online reservations for books that are not held in City Library (mutual loan reservations). (until March)
Direction of Initiatives: We aim to achieve both expansion of library functions and provision of library services in highly convenient locations.
We will proceed with redevelopment based on the aging of facilities and equipment.

- The Housing and Architecture Bureau conservation Promotion Division will coordinate the extension of life (air conditioning renewal work and substation equipment renewal work).
- We carry out small destruction repair with aging of facility.
Direction of Initiatives: We will actively disseminate information.
Increase contact points with libraries by disseminating information using various information tools such as SNS.

Utilizing public information Yokohama Ward version and City Library volunteer mail, we will actively send information such as events.
