List of targets for Asahi Library in 2024

This year, Asahi Library will focus on the following goals. This list of goals is based on the basic policy and direction of initiatives of the "Yokohama City Library Vision", and also based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward, etc. Has been formulated.

Basic Policy 1 Library for children who will lead the future

Direction of Initiatives: Create opportunities to expand the world of children.

Enhance books for children and books for child care

Efforts

  1. In order to enhance the picture books that children can enjoy, we will purchase about 300 picture books and stories that have been read for a long time. (until January)
  2. Purchase books that can be enjoyed with or without disabilities, such as LL books, Braille, and large print books. (120 books)
  3. Purchase a children's book written in a foreign language. (10 books)

We provide experiences and play that can be enjoyed in various senses, such as touching and listening.

  1. We hold "contact lecture with picture book from 0 years old" in 5 facilities in ward and suggest reading activity that can be enjoyed from 0 years old child. (5 times)
  2. In cooperation with the Asahi Child Care Marche, which is held in cooperation with Children and Families Support Division and nursery schools in the ward, we will convey the appeal of picture books and children's songs to infants. (once)
  3. In collaboration with Asahi Library Reading Volunteers, we will hold a storytelling party. (46 times)
  4. During summer vacation, an external lecturer will give a lecture on the environment (sea urchin this year) "Library deYES". (August)

We connect knowledge and experience to draw out the desire to "want to know" and "create" and respond to it.

We will respond to the needs of the child-rearing generation and provide services.

Basic Policy 2 Libraries for All Citizens

Direction of Initiatives: Ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and information

We will enhance materials and services to realize reading barrier-free.

Efforts

  3. We will hold a "where and where storytelling party" so that children with foreign language roots can get acquainted with books. (July)

We collect a wide range of books and enhance the collection in order to create opportunities to get acquainted with books and learn deeply.

Efforts

In line with the annual collection plan, we will enhance the materials of reference books (10 books), paperbacks (250 books, including donations) and local materials of Asahi Ward (including 30 books and donations) to update classical literature and standard books. (Full year)

Connect books and information with people

We will create an inclusive environment that is easy for anyone to use regardless of age, disability, nationality, etc.

Connect reading with experiences and activities to create an environment where knowledge can be practiced and deepened.

  1. We will hold a reading lecture by a representative of a reading volunteer who is active in Asahi Ward. (5 consecutive lectures from October to November)
  2. We invite experienced volunteers from Asahi Library as instructors and open story-telling volunteer follow-up courses to share skills and knowledge with other volunteers. (September)

While removing barriers, we will promote the creation of a system that will be a place where various people can meet, experience, interact and collaborate.

Basic Policy 3 Library for towns and communities

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a platform for community development where you can meet the appeal of the region.

We will create a unique library according to the characteristics of the region.

  1. Based on the development situation of the third Yokohama citizen book-reading activity promotion plan to be formulated this year, we will proceed with the preparation of the third Asahi Ward book-reading activity promotion target scheduled to be formulated in 7. (March)

Basic Policy 4 Easy-to-use library services

Direction of Initiatives: Utilizing digital technology, we provide library services that can be used anytime, anywhere.

We will promote online use of procedures and references.

We will make some online reservations for books that are not held in City Library (mutual loan reservations). (until March)

Direction of Initiatives: We will actively disseminate information.

Increase contact points with libraries by disseminating information using various information tools such as SNS.

  3. For information exchange with citizen facilities in ward, we hold reading activity promotion facility liaison meeting. (September and February)

Direction of Initiatives: In order to support the ever-changing library, we will nurture and utilize the librarian, which is the strength of the city.

We will foster librarians who always challenge the creation of new library attractions.

Efforts

At weekly in-house meetings, etc., we will discuss how to enhance the attractiveness of the library, such as sharing advanced cases of the library. (Full year)

Improve your expertise in books and information.

Efforts

Participate in staff training at municipal libraries and training for lifelong learning leaders organized by Pref.Library, and enhance staff expertise by sharing them within the library. (May, June, August)
