List of Targets for Kanazawa Library in 2024

This year, the Kanazawa Library will focus on the following goals. This list of goals is based on the basic policy and direction of initiatives of the "Yokohama City Library Vision", and also based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward, etc. Has been formulated.

Basic Policy 1 Library for children who will lead the future

Direction of Initiatives: Create opportunities to expand the world of children.

Enhance books for children and books for child care

Efforts

  1. In order to support reading promotion to the child-rearing generation, we will replace and replenish materials for infants, centering on the "picture book corner where we meet for the first time" (75 books).
  2. We will review the collection mainly in the fields of information science and language where classification has been changed, and update and replace materials (45 books).
  3. We will promote the renewal and expansion of picture-story shows, which are highly demanded in group lending of nursery schools and voluntary planning businesses (60 books).
  4. We will expand reading barrier-free-related materials that can be enjoyed regardless of disability, and establish a new corner (apple shelf (temporary)) (30 books).

We provide experiences and play that can be enjoyed in various senses, such as touching and listening.

Efforts

With the library after closing, we will hold a “Sty Storytelling Party” only for storytelling that you can enjoy with your ears (August).

We connect knowledge and experience to draw out the desire to "want to know" and "create" and respond to it.

Efforts

In cooperation with the interesting science tanker workshop, we will hold work exhibitions and workshops (June and July), and craft classes for elementary school students (August).

Direction of Initiatives: We will prepare an environment and facility that will make you want to go with your child as many times as you want.

Enhance events and child care support services

Efforts

  1. We hold this storytelling party on your knees (once a month).
  2. I will introduce children's songs and picture books at the 4-month-old Kanazawa Ward Health and Welfare Center (once or twice a month).

We will send push-type information that actively communicates.

Efforts

  1. We will consider digital signage at Aeon Kanazawa Hakkei store and information dissemination using SNS accounts such as ward offices and City Library.
  2. About special feature "library to enjoy with child" of public information Yokohama Kanazawa Ward version (May, 2024 issue), we cooperate with Kanazawa Sakura Nursery School and Children's Song and Picture Book Association Poppi to disseminate information about library.

Direction of Initiatives: We support child, child care generation in connection with child care support facility and school, area and the connection.

We will respond to the needs of the child-rearing generation and provide services.

Efforts

  1. In cooperation with the child care support base "Tokoko" and the Nokendai Community Care Plaza, we will carry out a child care course "How to select a first book" (November).
  2. At Minami Rokuura Nursery School and Namiki Nursery School, we will hold picture books and children's songs for infants and children (September and November).

Create opportunities for interaction with the same generation and other generations.

We will hold a POP exhibition of books created by junior high school students in Kanazawa Ward for a wide range of users from upper grades to adults (February).

Actively connect with children's related facilities and communities to support children and child care.

Support children's reading and learning together with the school library.

Efforts

  1. School programs will be distributed at the Principal Association and the Kanazawa Ward School Library Study Group to disseminate information to faculty and staff (May).
  2. We support school librarians through school librarian training (June) and school library maintenance consultation (as needed).

Basic Policy 2 Libraries for All Citizens

Direction of Initiatives: Ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and information

We will enhance materials and services to realize reading barrier-free.

Efforts

We will expand reading barrier-free-related materials that can be enjoyed regardless of disability, and establish a new corner ("Apple shelf (provisional)") (30 books). (Reposted)

We collect a wide range of books and enhance the collection in order to create opportunities to get acquainted with books and learn deeply.

Efforts

  1. We will update library science-related materials for students who obtain librarian qualifications at universities in the city (15 books).
  2. We will keep in mind the history of the region and collect local materials, including materials that are not distributed to the general public (20 books).

Connect books and information with people

Efforts

  1. From infants to adults, "Book Fukubukuro" tailored to a wide range of subjects, we provide encounters with books that we do not usually choose and do not read by ourselves (January).
  2. We will exhibit books for the general public, teens, and elementary school student (updated once a month).

It will be a cozy place to stay

We will create an inclusive environment that is easy for anyone to use regardless of age, disability, nationality, etc.

Efforts

We will promote cooperation with Kanazawa Support School, Yokohama Children's Hospice Umito Sora's House, Kanazawa International Exchange Lounge, etc. to consider creating an environment where libraries can be made.

We will promote the creation of a rich space that makes people want to go and stay alone or in groups.

Efforts

The teens corner will be expanded and the corner will be renewed (July).

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a base for experience, exchange, creation, and transmission.

It will be a place where various experiences and creative activities can be carried out.

Basic Policy 3 Library for towns and communities

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a platform for community development where you can meet the appeal of the region.

We will create a unique library according to the characteristics of the region.

Yokohama City University, Kanto Gakuin University, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology Yokohama Research Institute (September to November), Kanazawa Hakkei Gongenyama Park (April), Kanazawa Ward Health and Welfare Division (May and November), and Kanazawa fire department (December). Direction of Initiatives: Collect knowledge and information on regions and towns, archive them, and connect them to the next generation.

Gather diverse knowledge and information possessed by citizens, organizations, companies, etc.

  1. Kanazawa Ward University Library and Special Library Joint Liaison Conference will be held (July).
  2. A joint library tour will be held in collaboration with Yokohama City University, Kanto Gakuin University, and Yokohama Research Institute, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC).

We collect not only books but also information on the culture and memory of the city.

Efforts

We keep public information Yokohama Kanazawa Ward version, town news Kanazawa Ward Isogo Ward version for many years and accumulate local information. The latest issue is circulated by the staff every issue (once a week) and new information is also shared.

Direction of Initiatives: Support the resolution of local and social issues

Learn about the area and learn about local issues.

Efforts

In cooperation with prefectural Kanazawabunko (April), Kanazawa Hakkei Gongenyama Park (April), etc., we will provide opportunities to learn about the area through holding and cooperating with lectures and special exhibitions.

Deliver newly born knowledge and value to local communities

We will hold a post-study session for students of the storytelling course held last year (once every other month), and use it for students to talk at local elementary and junior high schools and facilities.

Basic Policy 4 Easy-to-use library services

Direction of Initiatives: Utilizing digital technology, we provide library services that can be used anytime, anywhere.

Expand e-books and digital archives

Efforts

We will increase and update digital archive materials that can be found from the "Local Materials" page on the Kanazawa Library homepage (March). (Reposted)

We will promote online use of procedures and references.

Efforts

  1. Organize the procedures and answers of e-mail references, improve user convenience and improve staff work efficiency.
  2. About application such as summer vacation work classroom, one day and shokanin, we use Yokohama-shi electronic application, report system.
  3. Part of the book reservation (mutual loan reservation) that is not held in City Library will be online (until March).

Create online encounters with books and interactions with users.

Efforts

In cooperation with Kanazawa Support School, we will consider online support for those who have difficulty going to school or visiting the museum.

Direction of Initiatives: We will actively disseminate information.

Increase contact points with libraries by disseminating information using various information tools such as SNS.

Direction of Initiatives: Cooperate, collaborate, and co-create with various actors active in the community

We will promote collaboration and co-creation with citizens, organizations, companies, etc. who have various know-how

Story volunteer group "Midori no Tane" (August, February / once every other month), Kanazawa picture-story show party "Kanamin" (April and November), Children's Song and Picture Book Association "Poppi" (once a month) ) And hold attractive events and study sessions.
