List of Targets for Konan Library in 2024

This year, Konan Library will focus on the following goals. This list of goals is based on the basic policy and direction of initiatives of the "Yokohama City Library Vision", and also based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward, etc. Has been formulated.

Basic Policy 1 Library for children who will lead the future

Direction of Initiatives: Create opportunities to expand the world of children.

Enhance books for children and books for child care

Efforts

  1. I will purchase materials related to child care. (30 books)
  2. Replace and replenish picture books and basic stories suitable for reading stories that have been read for a long time. (220 books)
  3. In order to support story-telling and story-telling volunteer activities at home, we will establish a new picture book exhibition corner for story-telling.

We will create an environment where both individuals and groups can spend time with peace of mind.

Efforts

We will enhance the proper operation of desks, sofas and places to take off shoes at the elementary school student corner and the display of children's books.

We provide experiences and play that can be enjoyed in various senses, such as touching and listening.

  1. For infants and parents, we will provide a “Parent and Child Fun Storytelling Party” and provide opportunities for contact with Konan Usapon Patpet and participants. (Monthly)
  2. We perform PR to facilities in ward about rental of cloth ehon and use promotion.
  3. We provide opportunities to touch and enjoy by introducing cloth ehon at storytelling parties held inside and outside the library.

We connect knowledge and experience to draw out the desire to "want to know" and "create" and respond to it.

  1. A book talk meeting that introduces multiple books according to the theme will be held once each for each target grade (elementary, middle and upper grades). (July)

  2. Based on the "Konan Ward Reading Activity Promotion Goals", together with the ward office, "Let's enjoy children's songs and picture books with parents and children!" At four locations in the city (12 times in total) and provide books to facilities.
  3. We will exchange information and provide information with local child care support bases, Konan Ward child care liaison meetings, chief children's committees, etc. (Full year)

Support children's reading and learning together with the school library.

Efforts

  1. We support the operation of the school library, such as providing school librarians with advice on reading stories and studying.

Basic Policy 2 Libraries for All Citizens

Direction of Initiatives: Ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and information

We will enhance materials and services to realize reading barrier-free.

Efforts

  1. About cloth ehon which started lending in 2023, we perform introduction in places such as talks and PR to facility in ward and promote the use.
  2. We publicize about support business such as visually impaired people, book delivery business and Sapier library.
  3. We carry out exhibition in cooperation with cloth ehon making citizen group.

We collect a wide range of books and enhance the collection in order to create opportunities to get acquainted with books and learn deeply.

Efforts

  1. Replace and replenish the materials in the Medical Information Corner. (15 books)
  2. Replace and replenish classic books in classical literature. (40 books)
  3. Replenished picture books suitable for reading stories for elementary school students. (100 books)

Connect books and information with people

Efforts

  1. We try for active public information of information such as handbill placement in ward office information corner.
  2. We will hold a talk session for adults. (October)
  3. We carry out book-reading activity promotion event that utilized Konan library mascot character "Konan Sapon". (July and November)
  4. We will conduct face-to-face readings. (Full year)

We will create an inclusive environment that is easy for anyone to use regardless of age, disability, nationality, etc.

Efforts

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a platform for community development where you can meet the appeal of the region.

We will cooperate with local organizations that conduct research on the history of Konan Ward, such as holding the Konan History Course.

Visitors to the library will learn about the charm of the area and become a base that connects with the town.

Expand e-books and digital archives

We will publicize e-book services for users who have difficulty visiting the library regularly.
