Midori Library Target List for Fiscal 2024

This year, Midori Library will focus on the following targets: This list of goals is based on the basic policy and direction of initiatives of the "Yokohama City Library Vision", and also based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward, etc. Has been formulated.

Basic Policy 1 Library for children who will lead the future

Direction of Initiatives: Create opportunities to expand the world of children.

Enhance books for children and books for child care

Efforts

  1. We will enhance the related materials published in Japanese language textbooks. (90 books)
  2. We will promote the enhancement of picture books for infants and the replacement of old-fashioned picture books. (50 books)
  3. We will promote the replacement of reading materials in the standard series. (30 books)
  4. We will promote the update and replacement of materials in the Teens Corner. (40 books)
  5. I will update a large book. (5 books)

We connect knowledge and experience to draw out the desire to "want to know" and "create" and respond to it.

Efforts

  1. We will establish a consultation desk for reading and research for elementary and junior high school students. (July and August)
  2. We will hold a book talk for elementary school students. (July)

Direction of Initiatives: We will prepare an environment and facility that will make you want to go with your child as many times as you want.

Create a space that allows children's lively voices and the buzz of their activities.

At the picture book corner of the children's library, a poster of "Story-telling OK" will be posted. (Full year)

Enhance events and child care support services

Efforts

  1. In collaboration with story volunteers, we will hold a story-telling party by age. (34 times)
  2. We will hold a talk session at Tokaichiba Nursery School by talk volunteers. (36 times)
  3. We will hold a talk session by university students from Yokohama Sou Masaru Hanabusa. (November)

We will send push-type information that actively communicates.

Efforts

  1. We will distribute a book list of picture books in Check ups for Infants and Toddlers. (monthly by age)
  2. We distribute handbill of "from 0 years old to library" for transference person. (4,000 copies)

Direction of Initiatives: We support child, child care generation in connection with child care support facility and school, area and the connection.

We will respond to the needs of the child-rearing generation and provide services.

Efforts

You can rent a baby picture book set at the library and district center. (3,000 books)

Create opportunities for interaction with the same generation and other generations.

We hold "Christmas party" in cooperation with complex facilities, local child care support base. (December)

Actively connect with children's related facilities and communities to support children and child care.

  1. We will hold talks and picture book introduction panel exhibitions at Midori-Ohanashi Festa, sponsored by the Midori Ward Regional Child Care Support Center. (May and June)
  2. We provide group lending to local and school reading volunteers, nursery schools, After-School Care Program Clubs, etc. (2,000 books)

Support children's reading and learning together with the school library.

  1. We will promote lending to faculty and staff. (1,300 books)
  2. We will promote references for faculty and staff. (30 times)
  3. In cooperation with junior high schools, we will carry out an introduction exhibition "My Recommended Books" of books recommended by junior high school students. (November)
  4. We accept vocational experiences for junior high school students and internships for high school students. (Twice a year)

Basic Policy 2 Libraries for All Citizens

Direction of Initiatives: Ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and information

We will enhance materials and services to realize reading barrier-free.

Efforts

  1. Enhance large print books. (25 books)
  2. In cooperation with the ward office, we will enhance the number of titles of CD books (reading CDs of literary works) that you can listen and enjoy reading. (May)
  3. Lectures on the use of the online catalog Library System on smartphones. (June)

We collect a wide range of books and enhance the collection in order to create opportunities to get acquainted with books and learn deeply.

Efforts

  1. Enhance health books that are highly interested in senior citizens. (30 books)
  2. We will enhance materials in the field of humanities. (80 books)

Connect books and information with people

Efforts

  1. We will post an introduction article of recommended picture books in the mini comic magazine. (12 times)
  2. In the "Bookshelf of this month" on the homepage, we introduce new recommended books for the general public and teens. (Monthly)
  3. We will exhibit and introduce the initiatives of Yokohama City together with library materials. (5 times)
  4. We will introduce a variety of library materials and provide reading opportunities by displaying books according to the season and various themes. (Monthly)
  5. We will hold "Kaekko Book" to exchange books at the Midori Ward People's Festival. (October)

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a cozy place to stay

We will create an inclusive environment that is easy for anyone to use regardless of age, disability, nationality, etc.

We will hold a multilingual talk session by university students from Toyo Eiwa University. (July)

Basic Policy 4 Easy-to-use library services

Direction of Initiatives: Utilizing digital technology, we provide library services that can be used anytime, anywhere.

We will promote online use of procedures and references.

Direction of Initiatives: We aim to achieve both expansion of library functions and provision of library services in highly convenient locations.

We will proceed with redevelopment based on the aging of facilities and equipment.

We will carry out renewal and repair work for each facility related to library facilities.

    Direction of Initiatives: We will actively disseminate information.

    Increase contact points with libraries by disseminating information using various information tools such as SNS.

    1. Share examples of references between staff using the morning meeting time and register examples in the reference database of the library information system. (15)
    2. Participate in specialized training for librarians and staff training for Yokohama City. (at least twice each staff member)

    We will continue to provide efficient and effective services and enhance tools.

    We will work to improve facility functions that support library services.

    Efforts

    We will share information on disaster response with complex facilities and jointly conduct disaster drill. (Twice a year)
