List of Targets for Isogo Library in 2024
This year, Isogo Library will focus on the following goals. This list of goals is based on the basic policy and direction of initiatives of the "Yokohama City Library Vision", and also based on the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan", "Yokohama City Educational Promotion Basic Plan", "Reading Activity Promotion Goals" of each ward, etc. Has been formulated.

Basic Policy 1 Library for children who will lead the future
Direction of Initiatives: Create opportunities to expand the world of children.
Enhance books for children and books for child care
Efforts
- Replacement and replenishment of elementary school student's knowledge useful for subject study (30 books)
- Replacement and replenishment of materials in the reference book corner of elementary school student (20 books)
- Replacement and replenishment of picture book corner suitable for reading stories (30 books)
We provide experiences and play that can be enjoyed in various senses, such as touching and listening.
Efforts
We perform "talking party with stuffed toy & staying party" together with "Isogo Library Supporters Club Hobitto" and "Yokohama Storytelling party" and provide opportunities for children to get acquainted with reading. (November)
We connect knowledge and experience to draw out the desire to "want to know" and "create" and respond to it.

- For elementary and junior high school students, "Summer vacation! The library work experience is held twice for elementary school students and once for junior high school students. (around July and August)
- We accept library tours at the request of the school. (Full year)
Direction of Initiatives: We will prepare an environment and facility that will make you want to go with your child as many times as you want.
Create a space where you can spend time relaxing and watch over your children.

We will post information about places where you can change diapers and breastfeed.
Enhance events and child care support services
Efforts
- Event for elementary school student "Let's fill the tree with flowers!" "Let's enjoy the works in the textbook!" We carry out "frightful storytelling party" "book lucky bag" and provide opportunity for child to get acquainted with reading and library. (as needed)
- We perform "talk meeting with stuffed toy & lodging party" together with "Isogo Library Supporters Club Hobitto" and "Yokohama Storytelling party" and provide opportunities for children to get acquainted with reading (November). (Reposted)
- We regularly hold talks for infants and parents, infants and elementary school students. (once a month)
- We will hold special talks and other events. (4 times a year)
We will send push-type information that actively communicates.
Efforts
- In cooperation with Health and Welfare Division, we will hold a “Delicious Storytelling Party” to disseminate information on health management such as food education and toothpaste. (Twice a year)
- Ask them to write a recommended book on paper and display it in "Let's fill the tree with flowers" to expand their knowledge of the book. (April)
Direction of Initiatives: We support child, child care generation in connection with child care support facility and school, area and the connection.
We will respond to the needs of the child-rearing generation and provide services.
Efforts
- The Isoppi Golden Week Stamp Rally will be held to encourage parents and children to understand and use local facilities such as libraries. (May)
- We carry out "book lucky bag" and promote opportunity to touch book and library. (November)
Create opportunities for interaction with the same generation and other generations.
Efforts
- Through the activities of book repair volunteers, students learn the importance of books through generations. (once a month)
- We will conduct exhibitions on the theme of diversity related to the community health plan to expand the foundation that can solve issues across generations. (July)
Actively connect with children's related facilities and communities to support children and child care.
- We carry out group lending to support school story-telling volunteers and nursery school groups. (as needed)
- Introducing children's songs and picture books at a 4-month-old child health checkup site in collaboration with Health and Welfare Center. (Twice a month)
Support children's reading and learning together with the school library.
Efforts
- We support school libraries by lending to faculty and staff, references (all year), school librarian training (June), etc.
- We will hold an introductory course for reading picture books. (June)
- We carry out "School Library Book Repair Course Beginner Intermediate Edition" once each to support volunteers working in the school library. (October)
Basic Policy 2 Libraries for All Citizens
Direction of Initiatives: Ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and information
We will enhance materials and services to realize reading barrier-free.
Efforts
At the children's book exhibition corner, we will display barrier-free reading, such as Braille books and LL books. (September)
We collect a wide range of books and enhance the collection in order to create opportunities to get acquainted with books and learn deeply.
Efforts
- We will replace and supplement basic books in the fields of information science and language. (55 books)
- We will update the basic books related to language learning, including the Japanese Language Learning Corner. (20 books) ・ Purchase books (novels) at the Teens Corner. (40 books)
Connect books and information with people
Efforts
- To improve the reference service, register reference examples in the library information system. (Full year)
- We will carry out "Fukubukuro of Books". (November)
- We will hold an event to promote citizens' reading activities in cooperation with Regional Promotion Division. (February)
Direction of Initiatives: It will be a base for experience, exchange, creation, and transmission.
It will be a place where various experiences and creative activities can be carried out.

Direction of Initiatives: It will be a platform for community development where you can meet the appeal of the region.
We will create a unique library according to the characteristics of the region.

- We carry out "machiju library business" to patrol set of book once every two months in four places of citizen use facilities including district center. (from July to March)
- Toward the 50th anniversary of the museum's opening, we will collect aerial photographs of Isogo Ward and enhance local materials. (around February)
Visitors to the library will learn about the charm of the area and become a base that connects with the town.

In cooperation with the Health and Welfare Division, we will hold exhibitions on community welfare and health plans. (around July and August)

Aerial photographs of Negishi Bay before, during, and after landfill of Negishi Bay will be exhibited at the local exhibition "Negishi Bay (provisional)" commemorating the 50th anniversary of the opening. (around February)
Direction of Initiatives: Support the resolution of local and social issues
Learn about the area and learn about local issues.

- We will hold exhibitions on smoking cessation in cooperation with Health and Welfare Division. (May and June)

- In cooperation with the Housing and Architecture Bureau Building and Disaster Prevention Section, we will exhibit on disaster prevention awareness. (September)
- In cooperation with the Water Works Bureau Public Relations Section, a panel exhibition on the water supply business in Yokohama will be held. (October)
- In cooperation with the International Affairs Bureau Policy General Affairs Division, the exhibition will be held on international exchange, international cooperation and multicultural coexistence. (February)
Basic Policy 4 Easy-to-use library services
Direction of Initiatives: Utilizing digital technology, we provide library services that can be used anytime, anywhere.
We will promote online use of procedures and references.
Efforts
We will make some online reservations for books that are not held in City Library (mutual loan reservations). (until March)
Direction of Initiatives: We will actively disseminate information.
Increase contact points with libraries by disseminating information using various information tools such as SNS.
Efforts
- The 50th anniversary commemorative project will be disseminated through the public relations Yokohama Isogo Ward version and the City Library SNS account.
- In the November issue of the Public Relations Yokohama Isogo Ward, we will disseminate information on the appeal of the Isogo Library on a special page to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its opening.
- Information on events and exhibitions will be sent on X (former Twitter). (as needed)
