Last Updated September 19, 2023

History of the introduction of container barge and pusher boat

Process
H17
February

Conducted a trial experiment of container transport between Keihin Ports using barges
Transport experiments were conducted using three types of methods (delic barge, deck barge, and pusher barge).

As a result of the experiment, the delic barge method was effective for transporting actual containers, the deck barge method was used for mass transport, and the pusher barge method was used for speedy transportation.
Based on the results of these experiments, we adopted a transport method using a container barge pusher boat that incorporates the effectiveness of each transport method.

H18
March

Completed new ship Greenship
With the assistance of the Green Logistics Partnership experimental project, the new ship GREENDASH (Pusher Boat) and CFT (container barge) were completed.

Various Functions
Artie couple

Arty couple

In the past, barge transportation used to connect boats and barges with wire ropes, etc., but by introducing the Arty couple (Automatic Connection Device) method, the pusher boat and barge are directly connected (integrated) to improve safety. In addition, it is possible to remotely control the connection and separation of the boat and the barge from the steering room without adjusting the draft.

Near-infrared camera

Near-infrared cameras for forward viewing are installed on both sides of the bow of the container barge, and confirmation cameras are installed on both sides of the stern, so that monitors can be viewed from the steering room.

Side thruster

By installing side thrusters at the bow of the barge, the left and right propulsion forces are generated, increasing speed and safety when leaving and landing.

Steering room

Since the steering room is located at a height of 11 meters from the surface of the water, it is easy to secure visibility even when three containers are loaded on a barge, and 84 40ft containers can be loaded.
