Under the Yokohama Blue Carbon Offset Program, we quantified blue carbon by eelgrass that live in the park management area of Marine Park and certified it as a credit in September this year.
Until now, there has been no standard blue carbon quantification method for kelp and seaweed, so this time, we have quantified blue carbon using our own method. As a result, we have certified the blue carbon of wakame, a kelp farmed in the sea of Yokohama, as carbon offset credits.
Credit certification of blue carbon for kelp and wakame is Japan's first initiative.
