About highly pathogenic avian influenza (to poultry breeders such as chickens)

Highly pathogenic avian influenza is an infectious disease that is highly infectious to poultry such as chickens and has a high mortality rate. This season, there have been a series of cases of confirmation of poultry and wild birds not only overseas but also in Japan, and the risk of birth is extremely high nationwide. If you are raising poultry, we ask that you continue to make every effort to prevent the invasion of highly pathogenic avian influenza.

About bird flu

Avian influenza is a bird disease caused by the influenza A virus. The influenza A virus that infects birds is collectively called the bird flu virus. According to the Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Law, avian influenza virus is distinguished from highly pathogenic avian influenza, low pathogenic avian influenza, etc. according to the pathogenicity of poultry and the type of virus.
In Japan, there have been no reports of cases of eating poultry meat or poultry eggs and infected with the bird flu virus.

In order to prevent transmission of highly pathogenic avian influenza, please take thorough measures to prevent epidemics.

・Thorough early detection and early reporting
・Confirmation and repair of gaps in bird nets in poultry houses and damaged areas
・Installation of bird nets for compost houses and feed storages
・Exchange of boots and disinfection of fingers when entering and exiting farms and poultry houses
・Check the gap between the openings of the egg collection and feces belt outside the poultry building and countermeasures
・Disinfection at the entrance of the poultry house
・Countermeasures against rats
・Disinfection when entering and exiting the vehicle's sanitary control area
・Organize the farm and around the poultry house
・Thorough disinfection such as pruning trees around poultry houses and spraying slaked lime
