Prevention of bird flu infection
Keep away from the birds! Don't touch it!
Avian influenza is an infectious disease caused by the influenza virus that spreads from birds to birds.
Except in special cases, such as close contact with infected birds, it is usually not considered to be transmitted to humans. In addition, there have been no reports of bird flu transmission from wild birds to humans in Japan.
You don't have to worry too much in your daily life, but just in case:
- If you find a weak or dead bird, don't touch it directly.
- If you have touched it, wash your hands with soap immediately and disinfect it.
Even if bird flu occurs, chickens and small birds bred at home or school do not immediately danger.

What is a highland bird flu?
Infection of highland bird flu
- Plateau bird flu refers to a bird flu caused by a specific virus that has a high mortality rate of infected birds, and is transmitted directly from birds to birds or through water, excrement, etc.
- Basically, it is an infectious disease that spreads from birds to birds, and usually does not infect humans. However, close contact with infected birds (for example, inhaling powdered dung, touching the nose and mouth with a hand that touches the bird dung or internal organs, etc.) has reported cases of transmission to humans overseas. Has been done.
- Very rarely, when infected with humans, it has been reported that influenza-like symptoms (high fever of 38 ° C or higher, cough, etc.) and diarrhea and other symptoms occur. It may cause systemic symptoms such as dyspnea or multiple organ failure.
- It has not been reported worldwide that humans are infected with bird flu by eating chicken or eggs.
