Yokohama City and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.) will utilize each other's resources and know-how to become a future city of SDGs, and realize a future society and an innovation city Yokohama worthy of Yokohama, which advocates Zero Carbon Yokohama, and contribute to the improvement of urban brand power and regional revitalization.
1.Process of Conclusion of Cooperation Agreement
Nissan was founded in 1933 in Yokohama (currently the Yokohama Plant), and in 2009 Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. moved its global headquarters to Yokohama Minato Mirai.
Yokohama City and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. have been collaborating in various fields, including the Yokohama Mobility Project ZERO (2009), a project aimed at promoting the spread of electric vehicles, etc. ahead of other local governments, as well as sports events such as the Yokohama Marathon and cultural projects such as the Yokohama Sound Festival, as well as demonstration experiments of new transportation services utilizing autonomous driving technology.
2.Cooperation items
(1) Initiatives and dissemination that lead to the creation of innovation in cooperation with local companies, etc.
(2) Promotion and dissemination of environmental initiatives for a sustainable society.
(3) Contributing to community development and the bustle of the town.
(4) Contribute to cultural programs, sporting events, etc.
(5) In addition, contribute to the improvement of citizens' lives and the revitalization of local communities determined by discussions between Yokohama City and Nissan Motor.
3.Future cooperation
Based on the cooperation agreement concluded this time, in fiscal 2020, we will collaborate with Yokohama City and local companies and organizations to promote the project to disseminate innovation from Minato Mirai to Japan and overseas.
In this project, Nissan will set up a limited-time facility in a part of the 60/61 block of Minato Mirai 21 Central District, and will also contribute to the creation of bustle in the Minato Mirai district and the improvement of the city brand in Yokohama by providing a place to experience the future society and innovation.
Details of the project will be announced again as soon as details are determined.
