Appropriate maintenance and management of fire extinguisher

 In a fire that broke out in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture in May 2021, the fire extinguisher used by an employee who was engaged in initial-stage fire-fighting techniques. to burst and injured (*). Accidents related to fire extinguisher have occurred in Yokohama in the past.

About the state of fire extinguisher

 If the fire extinguisher body is degraded due to significant rust, etc., there is a risk of rupture due to an increase in internal pressure during use. Check the external shape of the fire extinguisher. Immediately stop using fire extinguisher, which has significant rust, and replace it with a new fire extinguisher.

Inspections

 The fire extinguisher, which is required to be installed under the Fire Services Act, must conduct regular inspections and report the results to the fire department in charge. If you do not check, you may not be able to use it in case of emergency.

 In 2011, the standards for dimensions, shape, and quality of fire extinguisher were changed (*). Prior to the change, fire extinguisher had to be replaced by December 31, 2021. If you haven't replaced it yet, please replace it immediately.
 For fire extinguisher that needs to be replaced, the adaptive fire is displayed in text. Please replace it with the new fire extinguisher shown in the picture. For more information, please refer to "fire extinguisher's Standards and Inspection Standards have been revised."

How to initial-stage fire-fighting techniques.

 The actual fire extinguisher cannot be used in training. Therefore, we ask that you participate in the disaster drill (*) where the training fire extinguisher can be used.

 Manufacturers' organizations collect waste fire extinguisher through recycling counters, not by Yokohama City.
