For building personnel who have installed sprinkler equipment

Last Updated February 19, 2021

The earthquake that occurred off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture on February 13, 2021 caused damage to sprinkler equipment installed in some buildings, causing damage from water.
In sprinkler equipment, in addition to water discharge by detecting a fire, pipes may be damaged due to accidents or disasters, causing water to erupt. Therefore, it is necessary to correctly remember the procedure for stopping the water discharge of sprinkler equipment and prepare for emergencies.

How to deal with damage or water leakage

Make sure that it is not a fire, and then identify the leak location.
Please perform the following tasks promptly and in parallel.
In addition, the Japan Fire Extinguishing Equipment Association is also providing information, so please refer to the link below to "Response to reduce water damage in the event of damage and water leakage accidents of sprinkler equipment due to large-scale earthquakes, etc." please.

1.Close control valve

Go to the control valve room of the system at the leak point, close the control valve, and stop the water.

2.Stopping the pump

Go to the pump room and press the stop button on the control panel to stop the pump.

3.Please contact the construction or inspection company immediately and try to recover as soon as possible.

While the fire extinguishing equipment is stopped, take separate fire extinguishing measures.
