Visited a nationally designated important cultural property "Sekiya Residence"
I visited the Sekiya Residence in Kachidacho. It is the only old private house in the city that is designated as a national important cultural property. The premises are usually closed to the public (because it is a private house), but with the guidance of the 23rd generation Atsumi Seki, I saw the front gate, main house, Shoin and garden.
The Seki family served Hojo Odawara during the Warring States period, became the master of Kachidacho from the beginning of the Edo period, and also served as a deputy official in the late Edo period, calling the brand name "Odaikan".
The main building was built in the first half of the 17th century, which is considered to be the oldest in eastern Japan, and has a four-story plan with four rooms on the left side of the dirt floor. I was surprised. It seems that a large-scale repair by the national treasury subsidy project carried out from 2014 to 2017 revived the appearance at the time of construction and was preserved in the current form.
In addition, Shoin was built in the first half of the 18th century as a resting place for falconry of the third shogun of the Edo Shogunate, Iemitsu Tokugawa, and we also saw valuable items called the lunch box of Iemitsu, which has been preserved and inherited. .
In addition, we were guided to the beautiful garden with autumn leaves and the rare two-story thatched front gate and Nagayamon. I spent a valuable time as if I had a time trip, and I was filled with gratitude to the local history, inherited traditional culture, and the local people who have protected them.
