In front of the storehouse, together with Ken Nakayama, the sixth-generation head of the store.
On the right is the storehouse, and on the left is Shorin-an (Shorinan).
It seems to be written by Kohei Sufu, who served as governor of Kanagawa Prefecture in 1933-1945.
In Moromigura, we asked about the work of organizing ancient documents and tools that the Yokohama City History Museum is promoting.
We visited the Wataru Nakayama Saburo family in Kawawa-cho.
On Wednesday, November 29, we visited the "Wataru Nakayama Saburo Family" in Kawawa-cho. .
The Wataru Nakayama Saburo family has been engaged in the liquor wholesale business and kimono fabrics since the Edo era, and was a large merchant who also engaged in soy sauce brewing and silk industry in the Meiji era. The existing storehouse and Shoin are certified as "Yokohama City Certified Historic Buildings" and are preserved along with buildings such as Morogura, Kojimuro, and . . Prior to World War II, the garden at home was famous as "Sho" and as the center of "Kawawa no Chrysanthemum", which was crowded with Kangiku visitors in autumn.
At the storehouse, I saw valuable tools from the merchant era, and I was able to feel the state of Naka-Yamaga's business at that time and the breath of people. At Shoin, I saw valuable books and historical materials, delicate decorations applied to indoor shojis and window frames, and thought about the history of the region.
In addition, a part of the land where the main house was once located is the relocated Kawawa Nursery School, which was impressed by the richness of the environment where children can be raised.
It was a very nice day to see how the cultural heritage that conveys the history of the region was carefully preserved and loved by the local people.
Mayor of Tsuzuki Kenichi Sasada
