I participated in the Ikebe Citizen's Forest Bamboo Forest Festival!
On April 16 (Sun), we participated in the bamboo forest festival held in Ikebe Citizen's Forest, and challenged bamboo shoot digging with the local and inhabitants.
"Citizen's Forest" is a system that preserves Yokohama City's unique green space, which started in 1971.In addition to the purpose of protecting and raising greenery, citizens can relax with the cooperation of people who own forests. I use it as a place.
The Ikebe Citizen's Forest was opened in April 2017 as the second citizen's Forest in Tsuzuki Ward , following Kawawa Citizen's Forest, and is maintained with the cooperation and understanding of the protection society and the Neighborhood Associations in Ikebemachi and other neighbors.
I was worried that the day before the bamboo forest festival would be held due to heavy rain, but on this day it was sunny and more than 100 people gathered. This bamboo shoot digging is done for the purpose of thinning out shoots to nurture and protect bamboo forests, and can be taken home only on this day. After the opening ceremony, we explored the citizens' Moriuchi with the aim of bamboo shoots, and everyone from adults to children enjoyed digging bamboo shoots.
In addition, this year, we are planning to hold the "Bamboo Lantern Festival" for the first time in the fall to let you know the charm of bamboo, so I'm looking forward to it.
In addition to bamboo, many kinds of plants are planted in the citizen's forest, and you can see the scenery of Minato Mirai from the observation plaza. Please take a stroll through the forest of citizens.
