[19th] September is Keiro Month!

September 10, 2021

Last Updated September 14, 2021

September is Respect for the Elderly Month to celebrate the longevity of the elderly who have been contributing to society for many years.
In Midori Ward, 33 people in fiscal 2021 will be 100 years old, and a total of 101 will be over 100 years old. It's the number of people who can feel the age of 100 years of life.

The oldest person in the ward is Hisao Ikeda, a man born in 1912, who is 109 years old this year, and a woman is Sei Inoue, a 107-year-old born in 1914.

Mr. Ikeda is also the oldest man in the city. He likes to paint, and last year he painted a panda picture and donated it to Ueno Zoo. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit for the second consecutive year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, as usual, longevity celebrations are held in many regions in September, but I am lonely that there are few opportunities to meet due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope that the current situation will converge and that the day when we can meet you will come soon.
I would like to express my sincere respect and appreciation to all of you for your continued success in the years of Taisho, Showa, Heisei and Reiwa, and wish you all the best to stay forever.

September 2021 Mayor Midori

Nobuo Okada
