Totsuka Ward Barrier-Free Basic Concept
Last Updated June 19, 2024
In accordance with the Barrier-Free Law, Yokohama City has formulated a basic concept to promote barrier-free so that everyone, including the elderly, disabled, and those raising children, can move smoothly and use stations and facilities in Totsuka Ward.
In the future, each company will create a business plan based on this basic concept and carry out the project sequentially.

About Totsuka Station, Higashi Totsuka Station and Maioka Station Area
The area around Totsuka Station has formulated a basic concept for barrier-free areas around Totsuka Station in 2008, and has been working on barrier-free projects such as installing blocks for guiding visually impaired people on roads and setting up widening ticket gates at stations. However, since the time has passed since the basic concept was formulated, we will develop a gradual and continuous plan (spiral up) according to the current situation.
In the area around Higashi Totsuka Station, there are many facilities that are often used by elderly people, people with disabilities, and those who raise children, such as the Higashitotsuka District Center, the Totsuka Community Care Center, and the Higashitotsuka Community Care Plaza. In addition, there are many commercial facilities.
In the area around Maioka Station, there are cultural facilities such as the Maioka District Center and Maioka Hometown Village Rainbow House.
Details of the study
The basic concept of barrier-free was established and examined by the Totsuka Ward Subcommittee, which consists of academics, citizens such as the elderly and disabled, and related businesses and administrative organizations.
