Shin-Yokohama Station Area Traffic Barrier-Free Basic Concept

In Yokohama City, the target area of the basic concept based on the "Law Concerning the Promotion of Smooth Movement Using Public Transport for Elderly and Disabled Persons" [commonly known as the Traffic Barrier-Free Law], which was enforced in 2000 (Priority maintenance district), and the elderly, users including the disabled, related businesses, and the government worked together to consider the plan.
On August 31, 2006, in the area around Shin-Yokohama Station, we formulated a basic traffic barrier-free concept.

Details of the study
In order to promote the development of the basic concept, we will set up the "Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee" to examine the basic concept from a city-wide perspective, and to conduct a specific study of the basic concept of the target area, We set up "Shin-Yokohama district sectional meeting" and proceeded with the examination.

The 3rd Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [January 20, 2004]
We confirmed the establishment of district subcommittees around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.
1st District Subcommittee [March 23, 2004]
We confirmed the structure of the Traffic Barrier-Free Law and discussed the efforts so far in the Shin-Yokohama area and how to proceed in the future.
The 4th Special Committee on Traffic Barrier-Free [April 8, 2004]
We confirmed the selection requirements for priority maintenance districts.
2nd District Subcommittee [June 28, 2004]
We grasped the outline of the area around Shin-Yokohama Station and proposed on-site inspections.
The 3rd District Subcommittee (Machi Walk Inspection Workshop) [July 22, 2004]
We performed a town walk inspection, and after the inspection, each group organized issues and examined countermeasures.
The 4th District Subcommittee [October 5, 2004]
We arranged problems in the district from town walk inspections and past surveys, etc., and examined the area setting of priority maintenance districts and the route to promote barrier-free.
5th District Subcommittee [December 24, 2004]
We examined projects (specific projects) to be implemented for barrier-free and routes. In addition, we examined the north exit area general maintenance project.

We confirmed the status of studies around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.

We examined the basic concept draft.

We confirmed drafts of two districts around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.
Public comment [November 1 to November 30, 2005]
A public comment was held for the basic concept draft.
7th District Subcommittee [February 3, 2006]
We examined the opinions received in the public comment, the response plan for it, and the draft basic concept.
The 8th Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [March 30, 2006]
Based on public comments and opinions received from the final subcommittees of both districts, we confirmed the basic design draft that reviewed the basic design draft as appropriate.
