Shin-Yokohama Station Area Traffic Barrier-Free Basic Concept

In Yokohama-shi, target district of basic design based on "law about promotion of smooth movement using public transport such as elderly person, person with a physical disability" enforced in 2000 [commonly known as traffic barrier-free law] We selected (important maintenance district), and elderly person, user including person with a disability, related company and administration worked together to examine plan.
On August 31, 2006, in the area around Shin-Yokohama Station, we formulated a basic traffic barrier-free basic concept.

When we push forward development of basic design, we establish "Yokohama-shi traffic barrier-free specialized committee" to examine basic design from viewpoint of whole city and to perform concrete examination of basic design of target district , We set up "Shin-Yokohama district sectional meeting" and pushed forward examination.

We confirmed the establishment of the district subcommittee around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.

We confirmed the structure of the Traffic Barrier-Free Law and discussed the past efforts in the Shin-Yokohama area and how to proceed in the future.

We confirmed the selection requirements for priority maintenance districts.

We grasped the outline of the area around Shin-Yokohama Station and made a proposal for on-site inspection.

A town walk inspection was conducted, and after the inspection, each group organized issues and examined countermeasures.

We arranged problem in district from town walk inspection and past year investigation and examined area setting of important maintenance district and route to promote barrier-free.

We examined the projects (specific projects) and routes to be implemented for barrier-free. In addition, we examined north exit outskirts district general maintenance business.

We confirmed the examination situation around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.

We examined drafts around Yokohama Station.

We examined the basic concept draft.

We confirmed drafts of two districts around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.

Public comments were made on the basic concept draft.

We considered the opinions received in the public comment, the response plan for it, and the basic concept draft.

Based on public comments and opinions received from the final subcommittees in both districts, we confirmed the basic concept draft, which reviewed the basic concept draft was reviewed as appropriate.
