Based on the Barrier-Free Law, Yokohama City has created a basic concept to promote barrier-free access so that everyone, including the elderly, disabled, and those raising children, can smoothly move around Hazawa-Yokohama National University Station (Kanagawa Ward and Hodogaya Ward). In the future, each company will create a business plan based on this basic concept and carry out the business sequentially.

About the area around Hazawa Yokohama National University Station

In the area around Hazawa Yokohama National University Station, since 2008, the Tokiwadai Workshop, which consists of Neighborhood Associations, Tokiwadai Community Care Plaza and Yokohama National University, aims to create a town in the Tokiwadai area where people can continue to live after retirement. In these activities, with the opening of Hazawa Yokohama National University Station (November 2019), the Wada / Kamadai district and the Hazawa district of Kanagawa ward were also added, mainly in the Tokiwadai district of Hodogaya-ku, and consideration was given to local barrier-free. Was done. Based on the content of this study, based on Article 27 of the Barrier-Free Law, a proposal system for the creation of a basic concept in the area around Hazawa Yokohama National University Station was proposed. ※The proposal was submitted for the first time in Motoichi.
In addition, Hazawa Yokohama National University Station in this area will improve access to central Tokyo with the opening of the Sotetsu-JR Direct Line (November 2019) and the Sotetsu-Tokyu Direct Line (scheduled for March 2023), while the station, commercial facilities, residence, disaster prevention plaza, etc. will be integrated on a site of approximately 2.2 ha.
With the opening and development of these areas, the number of users of stations and living-related facilities is expected to increase in the future, so it is necessary to facilitate the movement between living-related facilities in the area around the station.
Based on the above, based on the background that has been sufficiently considered in the area, we decided to create a basic concept for the area as Yokohama City with the opening of the station. .
※Proposal system for drafting basic concept:
Based on Article 27 of the Barrier-Free Law, a system that can propose a new creation of a basic concept or a change in the existing basic concept by creating a draft of the basic concept and submitting it to the municipalities.

Details of the study

In creating the basic barrier-free concept, we set up the "Hazawa Yokohama National University Station Area District Subcommittee" consisting of academics, welfare-related organizations, regional representatives, businesses, and government officials, and proceeded with the study. .
