Yokohama Station Area Traffic Barrier-Free Basic Concept

In Yokohama-shi, target district of basic design based on "law about promotion of smooth movement using public transport such as elderly person, person with a physical disability" (commonly known as traffic barrier-free law) enforced in 2000 (commonly known as traffic barrier-free law) (maintenance maintenance districts), and users including elderly people and disabled people, related businesses, and the government proceeded with the examination.
In August 2006, the basic concept of traffic barrier-free was formulated in the area around Yokohama Station.

About Yokohama Station area
In the area around Yokohama Station, arterial roads such as the JR Line and National Highway No. 1 are concentrated. In addition, large-scale commercial facilities and business facilities are concentrated, and together with Minato Mirai 21 district and Kannai-District, make up the city center of Yokohama.
Details of the study
We set up "Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee" to have you consider the basic concept from a city-wide perspective when proceeding with the development of the basic design, we established the "Kannai-District Subcommittee" and proceeded with discussions.

We exchanged opinions on the current state of barrier-free facilities around Yokohama Station.
The 3rd District Subcommittee (Town Walk Inspection Workshop) [June 9, 2004]
Participants in addition to the members of the district subcommittee also participated, and after actually checking the site and compiling issues.
The 4th District Subcommittee [September 22, 2004]
We arranged problem in district from town walk inspection and past year investigation and examined area setting of important maintenance district, route to push forward barrier-free.

We confirmed the examination situation around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.
The 5th District Subcommittee [November 29, 2004]
Considering the importance of the project and the feasibility of the maintenance, we examined the projects (specific projects) and routes to be implemented for barrier-free were examined.
In addition, we considered a sign plan for Yokohama Station.

Public comment [November 1 - 30 November, 2005]
Public comments were made on the basic concept draft.
The 7th District Subcommittee [February 23, 2006]
Based on the opinions received in public comments, we examined the basic design draft and finalized the basic design draft as a district subcommittee.
The 8th Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [March 30, 2006]
We confirmed the basic concept draft created based on public comments and opinions received from the final subcommittees in both districts.
