Yokohama Station Area Traffic Barrier-Free Basic Concept

In Yokohama City, the target area of the basic concept based on the "Law Concerning the Promotion of Smooth Movement Using Public Transport for the Elderly and the Disabled" [commonly known as the Traffic Barrier-Free Law], which was enforced in 2000 (Priority Maintenance Area), four districts (Kannai, Tsurumi, Yokohama, Shin-Yokohama stations) were selected in advance, and the elderly and users, users, including the government, users and related businesses, including the disabled, and related businesses were examined.
In the area around Yokohama Station, in August 2006, we formulated a basic concept for traffic barrier-free.

About the area around Yokohama Station
In the area around Yokohama Station, main roads such as JR Line and other railway lines and National Route 1 are concentrated. In addition, large commercial facilities and business facilities are concentrated, and together with the Minato Mirai 21 district and Kannai-District, it forms the city center of Yokohama.
Details of the study
The “Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee” was established to encourage students to consider the basic concept from a city-wide perspective, and the “Kannai-District Subcommittee” was established to conduct specific examinations of the basic concept for each target area.

We exchanged opinions on barrier-free initiatives and district subcommittees in Yokohama City. .

We confirmed the selection requirements for priority maintenance districts.
2nd District Subcommittee [April 30, 2004]
We exchanged opinions on the current situation of barrier-free in the area around Yokohama Station.
The 3rd District Subcommittee (Machi Walk Inspection Workshop) [June 9, 2004]
In addition to the members of the district subcommittee, we participated, actually checked the site and compiled the issues.
The 4th District Subcommittee [September 22, 2004]
We arranged problem in district from town walk inspection and investigation of past years and examined area setting of important point maintenance district, route to push forward barrier-free.

We confirmed the status of studies around Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station.
The 5th District Subcommittee [November 29, 2004]
Considering the importance of the project and the feasibility of maintenance, we examined the projects (specific projects) and routes to be implemented for barrier-free.
In addition, we examined the signing plan for Yokohama Station.

A public comment was held on the basic concept draft.
The 7th District Subcommittee [February 23, 2006]
Based on the opinions received in the public comments, we examined the basic design draft and finalized the basic design draft as the district subcommittee.
The 8th Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [March 30, 2006]
We confirmed the draft of the basic concept created based on public comments and opinions received at the final subcommittees in both districts.
