Tsurumi Station Area Traffic Barrier-Free Basic Concept

In Yokohama-shi, target district of basic design based on "law about promotion of smooth movement using public transport such as elderly person, person with a physical disability" (commonly known as traffic barrier-free law) enforced in 2000 (commonly known as traffic barrier-free law) (maintenance maintenance districts), and users including elderly people and disabled people, related businesses, and the government proceeded with the examination.
On August 6, 2004, the basic design was formulated in both the Kannai Station area and the Tsurumi Station area as the first traffic barrier-free basic design in Motoichi.

About specific road

In December 2008, a part of the specific route in the Tsurumi Station area barrier-free basic design and priority maintenance area was designated by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as a specific road. About Tsurumi Station area

The area around Tsurumi Station and Keikyu Tsurumi Station are the subcenter of Yokohama City, located in the center of Tsurumi Ward.

Details of the study

When we push forward development of basic design, we establish "Yokohama-shi traffic barrier-free specialized committee" to have you examine basic design from viewpoint of whole city and perform concrete examination of basic design every target district In order to do so, we set up "Tsurumi district sectional meeting" and pushed forward examination.

1st Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [July 1, 2003]

We selected four districts around Kannai Station, Tsurumi Station, Yokohama Station, and Shin-Yokohama Station were selected as priority maintenance districts, and confirmed that they would proceed with the study.

1st District Meeting [September 11, 2003]

After confirming the structure of the Traffic Barrier-Free Law, we discussed the past efforts in the Tsurumi area and how to proceed in the future.

The 2nd Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [October 21, 2003]

We confirmed the selection requirements for priority maintenance districts.

2nd district meeting [October 23, 2003]

We confirmed related plans and planned business in Tsurumi area.

The 3rd District Subcommittee (Town Walk Inspection Workshop) [November 13, 2003]

A town walk inspection was conducted, and after the inspection, each group organized issues and examined countermeasures.

The 4th District Subcommittee [December 4, 2003]

We arranged problem in district from town walk inspection and past year investigation and examined area setting of important maintenance district, route to push forward barrier-free.

5th District Sub-Committee [January 8, 2004]

Considering the importance of the project and the feasibility of the maintenance, we examined the projects (specific projects) and routes to be implemented for barrier-free were examined.

The 3rd Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [January 20, 2004]

We confirmed the basic concept draft of two districts around Kannai Station and Tsurumi Station.

Public comment [February 16 to March 15, 2004]

Public comments were made on basic plans for the two districts around Kannai Station and Tsurumi Station.

The 6th District Meeting (March 30, 2004)

Based on the opinions received in the public comments, we examined the basic design draft and decided the original draft as a district subcommittee.

4th Yokohama City Traffic Barrier-Free Special Committee [Aug. 8, 2004]

We confirmed the basic concept draft created based on public comments and opinions received from the final subcommittees of both districts.
