The age at which the basic retirement pension is paid is 65 years old, but you can extend the start of payment from the age of 65 and receive the payment from the desired age after 66. This is called the deferral of payment. The amount of the basic retirement pension received by the person who deferred payment is the amount obtained from the age of 65 and added according to the age when actually receiving the pension.
In addition, you can receive advance payment between 60 and 65 years old. In this case, the amount will be reduced according to the age of the actual pension payment period. The payment rate at the time of this advance or deferral will not change for a lifetime.
If the basic retirement pension is advanced, the Disability Basic Pension may not be paid even if all or part of the payment provided by the Employee Pension Plan (Kosei Nenkin) before the age of 65, will be suspended, or even if it falls under the level of first or second grade disability due to illness or injury, Employee Pension Plan (Kosei Nenkin) may not be paid.
※If you request an advance or deferral of the old age basic pension, it will be paid from the month following the request, so you will need to apply from the day before your birthday to the last day of the month. For example, if your birthday is born on May 1, if you make an advance or deferral request on April 30 the previous day, you will be paid from May. If you claim on May 1st, you will be paid from June.

※From April 2022, the maximum age for deferral pension benefits has been raised from 70 to 75, allowing the pension to freely choose from the age of 75.
Based on this, from April 2023, the system has been revised so that even if you choose to receive the original pension retroactively without making a request for deferral after reaching the age of 70, it will be deemed to have filed a deferral request on the day five years prior to the claim and receive the increased amount of pension for five years.
