The ants found on Thursday, September 21, 2023, were identified as fire ants, a specific alien species, as a result of identification by experts. This is the first discovery at Yokohama Port since July 2023. Insecticide bait (Bate agent) is installed around the confirmation point.
In cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment, etc., we will continue to conduct surveys and control mainly at locations where fire ants have been confirmed. The place where the ants were confirmed is in the container yard of the wharf, and is an area where ordinary people cannot enter. In addition, there was no human damage in this case.
