About confirmation of fire ants in Yokohama Port

In the Yokohama Port survey of the national port survey conducted by the Ministry of the Environment every year (hereinafter referred to as the “National Port Survey”) conducted by the Ministry of the Environment, specialists identified species of ants found on August 4, 2023 (Friday). As a result, it was confirmed as a fire ant, a specific alien creature requiring emergency response. This is the third discovery of Yokohama Port this year.

Insecticide bait (Bate agent) is installed around the confirmation point.　

Yokohama City will continue to cooperate with the survey and control conducted by the Ministry of the Environment.

The place where the ants were confirmed is in the container yard of the wharf, and is an area where ordinary people cannot enter. In addition, there was no human damage in this case.
