Oike in Kamishirane has an area of about 6,000 square meters and was at the entrance of Hikarigaoka housing complex.
This pond has been used as irrigation water for the upper and lower Shirane Village, but according to the water book in the village diary, the pond was built in Tenmei 6 (1786) in the Edo period .
And the water was always abundant because of the water springs, and even if the water came up, the people in this area did not have trouble with the water. In the early Meiji era, masters and Shoya came to get water from the current Hodogaya Ward area of Wada and Buddha.
Koike, on the other hand, has an area of about 2,000 square meters and is located right next to Oike, but this still has few features.

The story of a large snake that is handed down

Kamishirane Oike Park, located at the entrance of Hikarigaoka housing complex, was formerly known as Oike and was a reservoir for Kamishirane Village.
About 190 years ago (* counting from the year of issue), a large egg was born in this swamp. It was a snake egg, and one day it was a big snake. And the snake started bad things and became annoy the villagers.
So, in the early morning, the villagers threw a stone baked in the pond, heated the snake, and exterminated it. It is said that the large snake had their heads as cows, horns and beard, and logs were as large as logs.
However, after that, at night, strange sounds were heard, and everyone could not fall asleep. At that time, the traveling monk listened to the story and told him that he must have been. Therefore, when the large snake was buried in the pine roots beside the swamp, it seems that strange tone could not be heard.
