About Iwakawa Bridge on the Yokohama Line
It is a masonry bridge that spans the Yokohama Railway (currently JR Yokohama Line), which opened in 1908.
It spans the Iwakawa River that flows through Ibukino, and is said to be a bridge that can withstand the Great Kanto Earthquake that occurred in 1923, and is said to be a bridge with high technical skills of masonry.
More than 100 years after the opening of the Yokohama Railway, it is one of the few masonry bridges that still exist today, and is regarded as a valuable modern civil engineering heritage.
