It was June 10 that I participated in the rice planting of Tando field in the back of Shinji Shimin-no-Mori. Approximately four months later, the fruitful autumn came, and volunteers from the "Shinji Yatoda Protection Association" received information on rice harvesting, and participated in the "Tandoda Rice Harvesting" on Saturday, September 30. .

The rice field in the back of Tando was revived by the ward office and local volunteers to preserve the landscape and ecosystem of satoyama, when farmers were too old to cultivate.

Despite the effects of the rain the previous day, the water in the rice field was drained, but the rice was harvested in a very muddy state. The work of cutting rice, putting together the cut bundles with straw, and hanging it on a "haza" shows that the muscles you do not use on a daily basis gradually screaming.

The small child also participated in the rice harvesting with his father and mother. He held a bunch of heavy rice, carried it to a place where the "Haza" was located, and hung it with the help of volunteers. You may have realized that the seedlings planted with your own hands grew up fine and turned into golden rice ears.

According to a volunteer, 3,200 rice will be a full bowl of rice, but 3200 rice can be obtained from two plants of rice ears.

Thanks to the sweat and efforts of the farmers for local production for local consumption, which is the attraction of Midori Ward, I realized once again the difficulty of making rice. I would like to participate in the rice planting next year with more ward office staff!
