light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) is required to pay the full tax for those who own motorcycles and light motor vehicles on April 1, the due date.
Therefore, as in the question, if you own a moped motorcycle on April 1, you will be required to pay one year's tax even if you scrap it on April 30. On the other hand, if you acquire it on April 30, you will not be taxed in the year of acquisition and will be taxed the following year.
In addition, if you dispose of a moped motorcycle, etc., if you do not file at the ward office, tax problems will occur after the next fiscal year, so be sure to complete the procedure for scrapping.
