Creating an environment where everyone can easily vote

From the idea that the improvement of the voting environment will eventually lead to an increase in turnout, in Motoichi, we are working on both software and hardware with the aim of creating an environment where everyone can easily vote.

※With the revision of the Public Office Election Law in 2016, the range of children who can enter polling places has been expanded from infants to elementary school student, students and other persons under the age of 18.

Contents of efforts at polling places

All polling places (including early polling places) have an environment to support voting and useful goods.

  1. Introduction of voting support cards (introduced in 2024)
  2. "furigana" display on polling place notice
  3. Adding and improving guidance signs to the polling place entrance
  4. Display of pictograms (emojis and pictograms) such as disability marks
  5. Display of "Ear Mark" at the reception
  6. Number display along the route
  7. Information display of rental items
  8. Setting the etiquette line
  9. Voting support items

Major voting support items

All polling places (including early polling places) have convenient items to support voting.
If you would like to borrow, please do not hesitate to consult with the polling place staff.

  • Wheelchair
  • Glasses, magnifying glass, Bunzhen
  • Braille devices
  • A cane
  • Communication board
  • Voting form entry aid (introduced in 2024)

We have a polling place version of a communication board that allows you to exchange voting with just your finger.
If you would like to use it, please contact the staff at the polling place.
Also, if necessary, download it to a smartphone or tablet device, print it out and use it.

Auxiliary equipment for filling out ballot papers

If you are uneasy, such as wanting to write on the ballot paper but not seeing the frame to be filled out, we will lend a "voting paper entry aid" that makes it easier to understand the frame to fill in the ballot.
※It is provided at all polling places, including early polling places.
※You cannot use the voting for the Supreme Court Judge National Examination.

Voting method

  1. As we prepare "voting paper entry aid" in polling place, please report one hoped for to person in charge of polling place.
  2. Please set the ballot paper in the "Voting Form Entry Aid". (If necessary, the staff at the polling place will set the ballot paper in the "voting paper entry aid" and hand it over.)
  3. After filling out the ballot, mail the ballot directly to the ballot box by yourself.
  4. Return the "voting paper entry aid" to the staff at the polling place.
