As an international container strategic port, Yokohama Port is working to accumulate cargo at Yokohama Port by coastal containership vessels, mainly in eastern Japan, to maintain and expand its core route as an international container strategic port.
(Headquarters: Kobe City) newly built coastal containership "Kiso" (approximately 142m in length, maximum loading capacity 1,096TEU (Note)), newly constructed by Imoto Shounun Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kobe City) in May 2023, entered the port Minamihonmoku Container Terminal for the first time, and a welcome ceremony was held.
The vessel is the largest domestic container vessel operating in Japan, and is scheduled to enter service on routes connecting Yokohama Port and Tomakomai Port. We hope that this service will lead to stronger transport capacity of domestic shipping containers and promote cargo collection at Yokohama Port.
