To realize carbon neutral ports! [Japan's first] Kanagawa University started a demonstration experiment of underwater solar power generation in the Minatomirai area.

　A research group led by Professor Akira Yui Yui (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering) and Yokohama City will conduct Japan's first underwater solar panels in waters near Nippon-Maru Memorial Park, Minatomirai district, based on the "Agreement on Contemporary and cutting-edge issues in coastal areas, enhancing the functions of Yokohama Port, and fostering human resources."
　In the future, the research group at Kanagawa University will utilize the knowledge obtained from demonstration experiments to make proposals for effective use of carbon neutrality in Tokyo Bay and other Japanese territorial waters and exclusive economic zones.
